As the hordes of infected corpses rise to follow the group up the side of the mountain Connie urges Misty to climb faster. They are headed to John’s emergency shelter built in the side of Dash mountain. A large flat area with trees, cave, and a small waterfall. Connie And John have kept thier strong hold secret for many many years in fear of an apocalypse.

Liz, Ryan, and Kris have already ascended to the top and are working on shooting the crazed zombies, keeping them from following the group up the long rope ladder that has been hidden, and still holding, after all this time.

Misty, Connie and John make it to the stronghold halfway up the sheer face, where there is an opening to a large cave. Liz and Ryan have cleared away the brush and small trees that have kept the entrance hidden and Kris is working on building a fire.

With the rope ladder cut off its pegs and left to drop down on the grunting, gory zombies down below to fight over, the group piles thier belongings in a heap to see what can be utilized for survival. Connie and John have already supplied the stonghold with water, military dried foods, powdered herbs and spices for small injuries or ailments. For the last several years, John has been scaling the mountain to nurture several nesting sites for some wild birds and small mammals, as well as several fruit trees. They will suppliment the dried foods.

The pile of belongings prove to hold little to no value for survival with the exception of some chcks smuggled in the side pocket of a jacket, and some Diet Dew that Kris brought with her.

The summer wears on Kris and Ryan have developed an interest in each other and keep away from the rest of the group worrying together about the oncoming winter. Connie and John keep the stronghold secure and hunt for the food. And Liz and Misty, not being used to the outdoors do everything they can to help, but with so little to do, the group gets edgy and irratable. The zombies are a constant at the base of the mountain.

On a full moon as the group slept, it was Misty’s turn for night patrol. As the night stills, Connie wakes up and opens one eye to check the area before going back to sleep. She notices Misty and Liz off on the edge of the shelf they now reside on. Connie slowly gets out of bed and approaches the two women, only to find they are reading a book!

How did they smuggle that up here without the knowledge of any one else? Where was it hidden? Connie grabs the book and runs to the back of the cave with it. She has gone insane, the boredom, the endless twigs, berries, dehydrated food. This little piece of her old life set her over the edge in a way the rest could understand.

Slowly the group surrounds her. John, the strongest of the group jumps on her. They struggle, giving Misty, Liz, Ryan, and Kris time to hold her down, one each on an appendage. John takes the book from her and slowly walks to the edge of the cliff.

As John throws the book over the edge, the group relaxes… Connie included.

Connie just wanted the book because it was a book, She had already read it in her old life.
Misty smuggled the book in. She wanted the author Liz to sign it. If society ever rebuilt itself it would be the start to her new collection.
Kris and Ryan wanted the paper content of the book
And John just couldnt read, so it was not important for survival.

The years passed, the Zombies were eradicated by multiple militias around the continent. The group survived, rescued and rebuilt thier lives in a new world. They kept a continued friendship.

    The end

(Misty, I couldnt help myself…. LOL)

Love it, we want more Connie…

Hmm. If it’s near water, the person pictured kayaking could whisk us away on her kayak. But the sister might be more concerned about her manicure than imminent zombie death. And two people I know mostly as writers might document it, but I’m not sure of their zombie fighting skills. The final one might be able to provide books with which we could whack zombies on the head with.

So mostly, I’m thinking in a zombie apocalypse, I’d be screwed.

While those five individuals would probably survive the zombie apocolypse, I wouldn’t. Since four of the five have written some sort of horror novel, they all are writers and probably would hang me out there for zombie bait for 1) to help their chances of survival and 2) to see what some morbid plot they could develop and use from it at a later date. 🙁

So there they were, only six of them remaining after the shocking events that had occurred earlier. Those shocking events meant that the world was teaming with Zombies. So what was the deal, were they chosen some how? or was it just a situation of shear luck. Realising that they were the only ones left they stood there in the clearing, they didn’t really know how they had all managed to get to one place but each and every one of them was very sure that there was nobody left. Wanting to take charge it was Jim who spoke first stating that as it’s only them left he thought they should elect a leader. He asked a show of hands for anyone who wanted him to be the leader. Not a single hand was raised, which is just as well, he wouldn’t have seen raised hands anyways being blind. A huge discussion followed in which Jamie just said that they were all dead and they should give up. Kay said that she was hungry, Siena pondered over weather Zombies moaned in different languages and Misty was busy researching all about zombies in her nook. Riz stood there saying nothing and clutching his Cricket bat signed by the Lancashire cricket club. He had run out of the house clutching it thinking that he would make more use of it than Lancashire did that season, as they had been relegated. After a while the conversation died down and Jim just continued to chatter on and on. The other five decided to leave him behind. He may survive, after all he could talk a zombie to death. After some walking however they heard some sounds coming from in front of them. Jamie had asked weather zombies could climb trees and then promptly withdrawn the question stating that she didn’t like climbing anyways. It was at this point when Misty gasped in astonishment. When she got inquisitive looks from everyone she simply stated that her nook was out of battery power. Misty just continued to look at the Nook wishing that the battery would some recharge itself, she was sure that she had been onto something. Then she realised it was the Nook she had charged last night, and she had the nook colour with her right now. The zombies came closer. Jamie suggested that they should run but before they knew it, they were surrounded. A zombie approached Misty, she raised her Nook high, intending to smack it in the head with it, but then she withdrew, thinking if only she could have had the old Nook with her. Riz closed his eyes and swung the Lancashire signed cricket bat. He felt and heard the crack as the bat connected. He opened his eyes only to see that the bat had connected with the tree and had broken in half. everyone backed away quickly pushing against some zombies in their desperation. They managed to get back to the clearing where some zombie body’s were laying there unmoving. Jim was nowhere to be found. they heard another rustle in the bushes and was another rustle and there he was, Zombie Jim!

Things immediately went downhill as Tom disappeared without warning. We tried to regroup though and Misty started building a fortress out of e-reads and paper books which I was attempting to help with when Erik (note the spelling) started bitching about how we didn’t know what we were doing. Misty promptly booted his ass and left him to be feasted upon by the ravenous zombie horde. Meanwhile, Eric with a C was struggling to fend off a lone zombie. He pleaded with Nathan to help, as the latter was nearby and had a shovel by his feet which could be used for bashing zombie heads in. Nathan shrugged though, and decided he would rather mess around editing Eric’s wikipedia page. With it clear that it was up to the two of us to fight off the zombies, Misty and I did our best to do so. Misty grabbed the shovel, and I grabbed the beret of the now zombified Eric, choosing to use it as a weapon like Kung Lao’s hat from Mortal Kombat. Their numbers were great, and the book fortress was started to wear down. Eventually though, the proverbial smoke cleared and we were left standing in a pile of zombie corpses. There was no rest for the weary, as we whirled around to spot a new nemesis … Tom’s zombie- he wasn’t alone either, but we’ll get to that in a second. With a low moan, he exclaimed “Uggggghhhhh …. ‘um yeah guys, I didn’t feel like doing this anymore. My girlfriend here’s a zombie, and said I should let her make me a zombie too. So I went ahead and did that to take our relationship to the next level. Brainnnnssss …..” Rather pissed that he told us he would help with the fight against the zombies then decided to bail and join the other side, we raised our weapons with wild eyed looks, prepared to fight our final battle …
