Having read Red Tide by Jeff Lindsay back in November, the idea of voodoo zombies was still a very cool concept to me. So when The Zombie Game popped up in my email, they had me at Haitian zombies!

While the plot has been done before, the characters are fun and there are just certain things that will keep you reading. For example, JakJak spends practically the first half of the book walking around with two bullet holes in his chest after trying to stop his boss from being killed. It is explained later and you kinda hope it will be because he runs around that way for a really long time! It kinda feels ridiculous at points. You also want to know how the plot ends because even though it’s been done before in many different variants, the author has an amazing talent of keeping the reader intrigued. You will want to know how this ends, what makes the Haitian zombies, zombies and what the characters are going to do.

Starting with book two has made me want to read book one. There’s a lot of things that I’m unsure about that the author covered enough to just move on from, but yet left some questions. Be assured that this book is perfectly fine as a stand-alone novel.

If you’re looking for something completely new, you’re not going to find it here. Only a different variant. Plastic surgeon tries to save the Pope and The United States from an evil terrorist attack. Kinda creepy considering what’s going on right now in the world but other than that it’s just a fun read for a weekend or a day you just want to go on an adventurous romp.

Thank you to Partners in Crime Book Tours and the publisher for a copy of this book. It in no way influenced my review.
