What? You say it’s been a year!? Really!!?!?!?! You say I have to write an opening blog / speech thing? I’m going to forget somebody, I just know it!
Nevertheless, it’s been a year. As of November 29th, The Top Shelf as it is now will be a year old and I have so many people to thank.
On September 07, 2011, Libby Jaggers passed away. It was sudden and very tragic and it totally rocked not only my world but everyone that knew her. Libby was a huge supporter of not only my blog but any project I chose to pick up. She looked over many of my reviews and she looked over one the night she passed. I wouldn’t feel right even starting this blog without thanking her. Be sure to tell your friends how much they mean to you. They could be here one minute and gone the next. I was lucky enough to have a chance to tell her.
I have to thank Valerie Maarten. When I told her that I wanted to expand The Top Shelf past being a simple recommendation site, she stood behind me. She introduced me to Jodi Langston, Ashlynn Monroe, Linda Prather, Joleene Naylor, Samantha Fury, Dana Taylor, Edie Ramer and Elizabeth Reyes. These fantastic authors were my support group for the first year along with Josh Graham, Liz Borino, Susan Wingate and Sean Sweeney. I can’t thank you all enough. If it wasn’t for your support early on, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to branch out and keep things going. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now!
Branching out eventually meant reaching out to publishers. Sometimes I could overstep protocol and go straight to the authors but I knew at some point I would have to be brave and approach the publisher themselves. Kent Holloway from Seven Realms Publishing was the first publisher to take a chance on me. I can’t thank him enough. From there I networked with Silver, Rhemalda, and Decadent. Thank you all for everything you have done for me and all the awesome reads you send to my e-mail. Through you all I have met the best group of authors in the world and am still meeting more! See my neat way of getting out of naming names? HA! You all know who you are. Why? Because you’re in my circle whether I’ve read your work yet or it’s on my TBR list, you all have helped me become what I am.
Blog tours are still a relatively new thing to The Top Shelf but I’m making it a frequent thing so I’d say in the few months we’ve had them, I’m already a veteran! Thank you to Pump Up Your Book and Partners in Crime Tours as well as all the other authors who have put together tours themselves and invited me on.
In one year, I have overcome every obstacle in my path. I have learned how to guest blog, interview, be interviewed and do book tours! I can’t finish this out without thanking my readers. You guys are the greatest group of people to hang out with. Over the next two weeks, I will be hopping around on various blogs, sharing my story with you in different aspects and doing giveaways. Meanwhile on here, authors will be visiting and more giveaways will be held. Why? Because without you readers, there would be no blog.
Now I know I probably forgot people and I’m sorry! I love you all though! Really I do! Let’s get this party started!
I have one KINDLE copy of Angelo’s Journey by Leland Dirks to give away! 🙂 Please do take note that this is a Kindle copy and even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can still read the book from your Android phone, IPhone, IPod, IPad or PC with the array of Kindle apps! To enter, leave a comment! A winner will be chosen by random.org on Sunday November 20th at 8pm eastern.
Synopsis: A Border Collie is brutally kidnapped. He escapes his captor and starts the long journey home, meeting a truck driver, a long-abused wife, a Marine, a cowboy and two grandmothers. Their lives will never be the same after meeting Angelo. Sometimes, all it takes to avert a disaster is the light touch of a canine paw.
